One of the biggest lessons I can share with anyone interested in becoming successful freight broker or freight agent is to focus on a specific freight broker niche market!
Don’t be a “jack of all trades and master of none.”
This post brings me back to the early days back in 2003/2004 when I was just launching my brokerage. One of the things I realized very quickly after starting as a freight broker, was the fact that it is impossible to be everything to everybody in the freight business.
So I decided very early on to focus exclusively on one freight broker niche and become very proficient and profitable in that niche before expanding into other areas.
In the video below I layout the process that I took when getting started and that you can use to to figure out the best freight broker niche for you!
Just like I talk about in the video, niches come in all shapes and sizes. The examples I share with you below are meant as examples only and you should do your own independent research when selecting your freight broker niche

>>> Become A Freight Broker in 7 Simple Steps!
I am a big believer in becoming a niche player in business but especially in the freight business. It is very hard, even a highly experienced broker, to be pricing and moving a load of paper out of MA to NJ and then the next minute be asked to move ice cream at 20 degrees below zero from Atlanta to Las Vegas.
Can You Have More than One Freight Broker Niche?
Yes, I do encourage freight brokers and freight agents to expand into more than one niche so they can diversify their revenue base.
But first you have to FOCUS on becoming proficient and profitable in one niche expand before adding a 2nd or 3rd niche.
FOCUS – Follow One Course Until Successful!
